Clean Your Local Park

Kick off Love Your Park Calendar week, a coordinated effort that involves over 100 parks across Philadelphia to adorn and clean the city's green spaces! This event is held each May and offers 9 days of fun and engaging volunteer opportunities! Last year, over 2,500 eco-minded Philadelphians joined in to pick up litter, tend to gardens, water trees, and more. Bonus: It's family unit friendly! Sign up to volunteer hither. Retrieve Marielle Franco

In March 2018, Afro-Brazilian homo rights activist, feminist, and pol Marielle Franco was assassinated subsequently leaving an outcome for young black women in Rio de Janeiro. Marielle was a critic of police brutality and the criminalization of poor Black and Chocolate-brown communities in her urban center. She promoted gender and racial equity fiercely. Her death led to mass protests all over the land, a testament of her legacy. Join Sharrelle Barber, assistant research professor at Drexel, and the Drexel Urban Wellness Collaborative, in a chat about Marielle Franco's work and the intersectional anti racist struggles in Brazil, the U.s.a., and globally. Conversation with the new Philly Board of Ed

Mayor Kenney appointed nine members to the Philadelphia Lath of Education in April. In July, these board members will oversee the School District of Philadelphia.
